Nice to know you Wednesday #16

Wednesday Apr 11, 2012

1. If you could change something about your home, without worry about expense or mess, what would you do?
It is almost one year now that we had transferred to our new home but still we haven’t unpack some of the boxes. Given the liberty of time, I will have it arranged. But unfortunately not as of the moment, the working Momma is too tired to be a super wonder mom this time. Right now, weekends are spent making up for the lost time with my kids.

2. If you could meet any one person (from history or currently alive), who would it be?
It will be Pope John Paul II, he greatly influence me ever since that I am a kid. For me he is not just our Pope, he is my Lolo, Santa Claus, charismatic spiritual leader. When he visited our country as a Pope twice, my family and I never missed a chance to attend his mass. Though he is far, yet he is so near in my heart.
3. What is the last movie that you saw at the cinema?
The last movie was No Other Woman, we seldom watch movie and we opt to just stay at home and do the movie marathon with the kiddos.
4. Name something you lost or gave away that can never be replaced.
Our wedding ring, I remember that my husband and I pawned it since our eldest kid was sick. Unfortunately we are not able to have it back because of financial problems. {Just a brief background: we are part of the young teen marriage, who got married before we were able to finish our degree and thanks God we are able to bounce back and graduate. (blogged about it here)}

But I really never regret doing it since my daughter is far more important than any material things in this world. Our wedding ring is just a symbol; our marriage is the real thing. 19 years after, I am still very much inlove and happily married.
5. What is your favorite magazine or publication?
I have a collection of magazines and included in my lists are : Smart parenting, Good Housekeeping and Entrepreneur Magazine. (blogged about it here)

Nice To Know You Wednesday

Wednesday Feb 29, 2012

It is my first time to join the “It’s Nice to Know You Meme” hosted by my dear blogger friend “Vix” of Mum Writes.

And here is my share of answers for this week’s leap year questions:

1. If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation where would you go?

- Ever since I was a kid how I wish that I can go to Disneyland in US.  I am a child at heart and even upto know I fancy having Mickey Mouse items.

2. Where did you grow up?
- I grew up in a busy neighborhood of Caloocan City.  I am with my grandmother while my siblings together with my Mama lives a couple of stone throw away from my Lola’s house.

3.  What is the last thing you watched on the tellie?
- News (to catch up to what is happening in the metro)- Since I really have a bad ache I hit off the bed early yesterday and since last night I havent touch the remote to watch.

4.  What kind of car do you drive?
- A Honda Accord.  I was forced to learn how to drive not because I like to but because I have no choice since my OFW hubby is out of the country, I have to learn how to drive around for my kids. Moreover, making the car idle makes it more prone to vehicle defect. {as I was told}

5. Where would you retire?
-  I am working mom all my life and I   see myself retiring in a more laid back environment {a farm or a beach front maybe – hehehehe daydreaming ; that is if our financial permits}.  But actually our new home is already far from the Metro since we moved last year here in Bulacan, it is already ideal for retirement.  The air is still fresh and I have a garden which I am tending right now.

That’s for me folks…If you want to share bits and parcel of you…If you want to gain more friends in the blogosphere come and join the Nice to Know You Wednesday.

Glad That I Faced the Challenges of Life

Monday Apr 25, 2011

SAHMone Speaks Meme #4:

Was there a time in your life when you thought “running away” was the only solution to your problem?

Amor Cielo Answers:

It is really foolish of me then to think then that I can ran away from what I thought was a big problem.  I am a product of a teenage marriage, and just like any circumstances like this it is a usual case of an unwanted pregnancy that time.  It was a deep struggle where in both my hubby and I almost gave in and run away from it all.  I am glad that we did not give up on each other…We had just celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary last March, but ours is not an easy journey.

Excerpt from my Brown Pinay blog about our Teenage Maariage Struggle:

Our first 5 years were really a struggle to our relationship. Just when I thought that money does not matters in a married life, we prove it wrong. No matter how deeply in-love you might be, when you dont have enough and you dont know where to get food and milk to feed your kids, that is where you started to realize all your follies, you started to realize that indeed life is not a bed of roses. Although money does not buy happiness, it is true that a tight financial situation can create tensions which can affect an otherwise happy relationship.

My Worries are Mine….

Sunday Apr 17, 2011

SAHMone Speaks Meme #3:

Do you tell your significant other everything about your worries?

Amor Cielo Answers:

Although, my hubby and I can talk on practically everything, Id rather keep all my worries myself. I am a very extrovert person – a happy person I might say. But whenever something bothers me, I don’t usually share it with someone not even to my hubby and kids. Although we are partners, I find it odd in my character to impart my inconveniences to someone not even him. Sometimes, when things comes to worst and he discovered that I had this worries in me, he makes “tampo” for not entrusting him. One time he even told me that I am judging his ability to listen and be a partner.  But ofcourse, exceptions are our marital relationship and matters about our kids which we openly discuss and mutually share.

I must admit that I am putting a wall between me and just about anyone in my life.  I dont want them to worry about me, I dont want them to worry about my worries.

Dagandang

Wednesday Apr 13, 2011

Thanks to the wonders of Internet I was able to learn something today. I learned that “Dagandang” is the Tagalog word for Sunburn. Actually I had long been asking my Lola and Mom to translate Sunburn to Tagalog and unfortunately I cannot seem to find the answer. Thanks to WikiHealth of WikiPilipinas.

How Do I Fare as A MOM

Monday Apr 11, 2011

SAHMone Speaks Meme #3:
How would you rate yourself as a mother, 10 being the highest?

Amor Cielo Answers:

This is a tough question to answer…Being a Mom is a 24/7 job, there is no VL/SL, no day-offs and must always be on the go.  But at the end of the day the hugs and kisses from our kids are just enough reward to revitalize a Mom like me and to keep me going and inspired.  the responsibilites of being a Mom is so vast, diverse and boundless, the very reason why it is hard to really fill in the shoes of a perfect and ideal Mom.

If I will rate myself as a Mom, I will give myself a rate of 7.  The 3 points that I need to improve on are :

  1. For my patience since at times I easily loose my patience specially when I am so stress out at work (I understand that this should not be, but I am only human and at times I succumb to my earthly weknesses).
  2. For times that I failed to be with them when they needed me because Mama has to go to work :( (Guilt and life of a Working Mom)
  3. Room for improvement – so I may be able to cope with my kids generation.

Whether you are a Working Mom like me, a SAHM, WAHM and Adoptive Mom and even Surrogate Mom – I do salute you for the nurturing love you are giving the children of the world.

===

On a sidenote: I am not your usual mom who are so conscious when it comes to the looks or figures, I do not always read aesthetic related researches or feedback similar to hydroxycut reviews, but I am more on the mommy thing and other mommy/children relationship reads.

Super Wonder Working Mom

Monday Mar 14, 2011

SAHMone Speaks Meme #3:
How do you get yourself organized with all the left and right chores in the house? Plus a crying toddler or a demanding husband waiting his dinner to be served?

Amor Cielo Answers:
Whew, tough one to answer especially if your middle initial is Procrastination and your surname is WorkingMom. I had constantly blog in my Brown Pinay, that I sulks when it comes to time management. How do I keep sane? Well, I do keep a small notebook (a tickler) wherein I would write all the things that has to be done. Mind you I am a perennial forgetful lady here, perhaps because of my 2 Caesarian operations. The very reason why the handy dandy notebook is very effective to me. I write whatever needs to be done and check it off once done. This is very helpful to me at work. But since Procrastination is my middle name, there are many blog posts back logs that needs to be done hehehhe.

At home, I have a maid to help me out especially with the laundry and other cleaning chores in the house. Since my helper only knows how to fry and sautee simple recipe, I would usually do the cooking. After office (mind you my office is from pasig and I am living in caloocan), my maid will have all the ingredients prepared, veggies chopped, meat tendered blah blah, the moment I arrive…there goes Super Wonder Mom….weeee….without even taking my office clothes off, I will be cooking the dish…which is usually good until the next day.

Wonder Working Mom

Wonder Working Mom

At the office, I will frequently call home to check on my kids. I would constantly remind my youngest to take a nap and to study whatever he has to do. Now another Wonder Mom thing – The moment I arrive home, I will be checking on his assignments and review him….

Good thing that my hubby, is not a pain in the ass – he tends for himself, fixed his own dress and if he is not working over time teaches my kids especially in the areas of Mathematics which is my waterloo….

I also have simple house rules for my kids to help us get by, less arguments, less talk since they know my rules

This is indeed the life of a Super Wonder Mom that I know others can relate to…there might be guilt bites once in a while but my kids will surely realize that I may be away at work all the time, but nevertheless does not mean that I care less.

Life Then and Now

When SAHMone Speaks

SAHMone Speaks Meme #1:
Looking back the days when you were still single, how would you differentiate your life now?

Amor Cielo Answers:
Unlike other Moms whose life has turned into 180 degrees. Mine is completely different. I am enjoying things which I was not able to do when I was still single. I got married at a very early age of 20 (even before finishing college), so I got limited gimmicks, not to mention the fact that I really have a very strict Mom. Apart, from that since my parents are both government employees, my siblings and I could not really afford it.

But when I got married, I am very lucky to have a very supporting husband who did not deprive me of my life. I can still go out with my set of friends provided that my kids has no exams, I already instructed my maid on the “to-do lists” and I will tell him the get together schedule ahead of time. But of course, I do limit myself, I don’t go overnight and most of the time, I will tag my hubby along since I would always introduce him to my old and new friends as well. There are also times, that he will see invites from friends, he will ask me if I want to go but more often than not, I would often decline.

SAHMone Speaks Meme #1:
How do you keep up with your busy schedule every day?

Amor Cielo Answers:
I am a Working Mom and everyone knows that the life of a working Mom is so erratic. I am not that good with time management, but my calendar notes / “to do notes” on my notebook really makes wonder. Above all, when everything else is a mess, I would often go back to the basic – “Family always comes First”.
